Delivered under the umbrella of ReLeaf Lake Mac, the Lake Mac Tiny Forest is an innovative, community led solution aimed to support local biodiversity; protect and enhance the local environment. Based on research from existing global examples, which demonstrate tiny forest’s offer multiple social and environmental benefits, the Lake Mac Tiny Forest is the first of its kind in the Hunter and the first project in Australia to enter a national Tiny Forest research study. Data is collected via citizen science evidencing the success of the Tiny Forest planting methodology.

The forest was planted Teralba Primary School students and members of the local community.

The design of this forest includes reclaimed timber edging, an outdoor classroom consisting of sandstone seating, 750 plants from 22 native tree and shrub species locally endemic to the site.
